New Office Furniture

Significant Changes in the new office furniture

The office furniture industry is looking for a significant change as the companies involved are rolling out new products. This change has been possible due to the overall improvement in the economy which has allowed factory owners to retool their production lines and finance their projects aggressively. Moreover, with the betterment of the technology and the increased use of mobile computing devices, workers are demanding office furniture that blends with the growth of mobile computing. Office furniture manufacturers are now providing flexible options to cubicle walls as there is an increased need for networking and connecting with the co-workers.

Cubicle-Free Office

The present work space is not confined to cubicles and cabins. Instead offices are becoming open with wide spaces and transparent partitions that allow better networking among the employees. Cubicles are being done away to bring in open platforms or joint desks that can accommodate more than one person, helping them co-ordinate.

With floor plans of the offices being open, the furniture too needs to such that adapts to the new style and incorporates the latest technology. The concept of corner office is diminishing. Conference rooms are being transformed into meeting places. Similarly, office chairs that were simple ones are now being made to have arms to rest the tablet computers.

Office Chairs

Talking of chairs, the concept in practice today is to design ergonomic chairs that is not only comfortable to sit on but which also allows the employees to get close to their computers and laptops.

Factors Influencing the Face of Office Furniture

The idea is to create a workplace where there is comfort and ease of working. The current change in the office furniture is indicative of the changing times. The most prominent of the trends that are evident today in offices indicate that the younger work brigade wishes to do away with barriers. Here are some of the other factors that are changing the face of the office furniture:

Emphasis on collaboration:

there is lesser hierarchy seen in offices today, than it was in earlier times. The emphasis is on working together. This means that the office furniture must be so designed that it incorporates collaboration and furniture like modular desks help achieve the aim as they can be arranged and rearranged in different configurations.

Creative workplaces:

while earlier the emphasis was on efficiency, the focus has now shifted to being creative. The result is that workplaces are being designed and coloured with catching eye colours. They are being designed to encourage creativity.

Incorporation of multiple technological devices:

while earlier there was just a desktop computer sitting on one edge of the table, there are multiple technological required at the same time. These gadgets may include smart phones, tablets and other devices. Office desks are being redesigned with such grommets that can keep the wires organized and keep them out of the way.

Increased spontaneity:

companies are encouraging spontaneity and for this reason they are arranging for office furniture that can be arranged ad hoc for a meeting of employees from different departments that may be working together on an assignment. Swivel chairs are therefore liked for their mobility and their ability to be stowed away when not in use.

Ergonomic designs:

today the office hours are not confined to the 9 to 5 regime as the emphasis is on completion of the project on time. This means that the office furniture, especially the chairs need to be ergonomically designed so that they are comfortable even when used for long hours. Several office furniture manufacturers, considering this aspect provide chairs that have various ergonomic configurations. Moreover, the companies are also providing customized options to the companies.

Each worker is important:

with the change in work culture, companies today are becoming smaller with lesser number of employees and operating out of small spaces. This means that each worker is important and therefore must be provided a comfortable environment to work. Gone are the days when only the manager or the director of the company had a comfortable office desk.

Environment friendly furniture:

by way of contributing towards a green planet, companies are opting for eco-friendly office furniture. They are opting for furniture that is made of recyclable material. This also shows the company's commitment towards the environment.

Therefore, there are significant changes in the office furniture and these are evident of the changing trends of the work environment.
